Three Bolts claim all-conference honors

The Baxter boys’ basketball team started its first season without Collins-Maxwell with a tough loss to Iowa Star Conference South Division foe GMG.

After that, the Bolts suffered just one other conference loss and finished second in the division to Colo-NESCO, which lost to Baxter two out of three times this season.

After the runner-up finish, three Bolts were named to the All-ISC South Division squad. Junior Will Clapper was named to the first team, sophomore Cole Damman claimed a spot on the second team and senior Travis Lindemoen earned honorable mention recognition.

Clapper was the team’s go-to player in the paint. He averaged a double-double this season at 17.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. He shot 60 percent from the floor and swiped 28 steals.

Clapper was even better in conference games, averaging 18.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. He made 57 percent of his shots and 71 percent of his free throws. He also had 14 steals.

Damman was the Bolts’ top scoring guard at 12.4 points per game. He averaged 3.8 assists, 2.7 rebounds, 2.2 steals per game. His 51 total steals ranked first in the division.

In conference play, Damman scored 11.4 points. 3.8 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. He led the division with 25 steals.

Lindemoen averaged 8.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, a team-high 5.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game overall this season. He made 76 percent of his free throws, ranked second in the division with 121 assists and fifth in steals with 43.

In conference play, Lindemoen improved his scoring average to 12 points per game. He averaged 2.5 rebounds, 2.4 steals and a team-best 4.7 assists per game. He made 69 percent of his free throws and 43.6 percent from 3-point range. He ranked third in the division with 47 assists and seventh in steals with 24.
