VALPARAISO, Ind. — Valparaiso connected on a season-high 12 3-pointers in a 77-60 win to end the Drake University men’s basketball team’s five-game win streak and hand the Bulldogs their first Missouri Valley Conference loss of the season on Wednesday at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
Tevonn Walker scored 26 points for Valparaiso (11-7, 2-3 MVC) as the Crusaders shot 12-of-24 from the 3-point arc with Walker connecting on five of those.
Drake (10-8, 4-1 MVC) was led by 15 points from Graham Woodward (Edina, Minn.) and 11 points from Nick McGlynn (Stoughton, Wis.). Offensively, the Bulldogs racked up a season-high 20 assists and shot 45.1 percent, but fell behind early and could never find the defensive combination to counter Valpo’s 7-foot center and hot three-point shooting.
Drake returns to the Knapp Center to host Evansville at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
