Tigerhawks cruise to two more dual wins

BAXTER — The Colfax-Mingo wrestling team had another easy night Tuesday. The Tigerhawks received 17 forfeit victories and finished 7-1 in contested matches during easy wins over Baxter and Collins-Maxwell.

The Tigerhawks downed Baxter 72-0 and defeated Collins-Maxwell 69-12 to tie a school record for wins with 23. Colfax-Mingo won 23 duals to set the school record last year.

Eleven Tigerhawks went 2-0 on the night, highlighted by Xavier Anderson’s two pins in a total of 68 seconds.

Seniors Nick Barnes and Nathan Evans, junior Skyler Aikin and sophomore Cyden Fitch all one once by fall and once by forfeit. The Tigerhawks (23-1) recorded six pins, and Noah Strohmeyer also had a 10-9 win by decision and a forfeit win at 106.

Seniors Colton Lourens and Chance Rice, junior Cauy Fitch, sophomore Trystin Ross and Josh Smith were all 2-0 with two forfeits.

Collins-Maxwell defeated Baxter 36-12. The wins for the Bolts came by forfeit from Brad Matthews (195) and Micah Kearns (220).

Colfax-Mingo wrestles North Mahaska, Montezuma and English Valleys at 6 p.m. Thursday in North English.

Baxter competes at 6 p.m. Thursday in Pleasantville.
