Barbara Ann Davis

Barbara Ann Davis, 86, passed away at Kavanaugh House Dec. 19, 2017. Barbara elected to forgo any visitation or viewing and no services will take place. She had wished to be cremated by Brooks Funeral Home. Her burial will be at Rising Sun Cemetery.

Barbara was born June 5, 1931. She grew up and attended school in Des Moines. On Sept. 18, 1947, she married Thomas E. Davis, Jr. In 1953, the family moved to California, where she was employed by U.S. Driver’s Corporations and also worked the NASA space for Apollo missions. In 1965, the family returned to Des Moines, where Barbara began working for the State of Iowa at the capitol complex, finally ending her years of employment with the state as manager of the micrographics, Job Service of Iowa. Barbara was a member of the Immaculate conception Church in Colfax and the Order of Eastern Star in Pleasant Hill. Barbara is and will be remembered as a loving wife to Thomas, mother, mentor and friend to many.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Thomas; son, Timothy James; her parents; a sister and brothers. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Mary Alice (Bernard) Fogel; son, Thomas E. III (Carla) Davis; son, Daniel Joseph Davis; and daughter, Margaret Ann “Peggy” (Mark) Boyd; two sisters, Maureen Miller of Pleasant Hill and Mary Ellen Selby of Pleasantville; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and other extended family members and dear friends.
